TRAVEL LOG: chick-fil-a

it is acceptable to use either dashes or simply leave spaces between words when writing “chick fil a” on a computer or laptop computer.  you also don’t have to spell it like this.  it can also be spelled chick fil A.  fil A refers to the French, “fillet,” and i like to think of chick fil a as an anti-prescriptivist language project ongoing in the southeast.

there was a time before exit 173 off i-95 in north carolina was developed, and my sister and i ate chicken mcnuggets.  i like not to remember that time.  now is the era of chick fil a.  i have no reason to think chick fil a is any better than mcdonalds with regard to 

food science

food politics 

but my sister’s roommate’s father is a poultry farmer and he vouched for cfa as opposed to the kfc, which he said never to eat.   

the waffle fries at chick fil a aren’t really good by nature.  but, it’s considered proper to get them.  i think it is best to get a sandwich, entree only, with pickles, and a small tea and a milkshake.  if possible, you should feel the heat of the sandwich through the paper before you eat it.

points on chick fil a: 

- if you enter a location in a cow suit, you get free food (in addition to the fulfillment of promoting chick fil a, a natural consumer fulfillment we receive all the time but with more theatricality and less “performance”)  

-it is inferior to eat at a chick fil a stand in an airport, say, for instance, the philadelphia airport.

the limited edition flavor peach milkshake:

it is like playing hookie, it makes everything special.  it is an ice cream bath for your mouth.  like summer, it is fleeting.  enjoy it while it lasts but not on sunday because chick fil a is christian.  maybe it’s open in some locations, though.
